Anshe Chung’s Past Revealed

Of course, such an article begs the question – does it really matter what an avatar’s real-life past is? In some cases yes – if Anshe Chung had been a dodgy real-estate developer / rip-off merchant in real life, then it matters in a big way. But she wasn’t. I suppose it’s just a standard case of ‘make a million and expect intense media scrutiny’. And of course, it was Anshe that announced she’d made a million so the interest can’t be unexpected.

  1. Hey, it just proves that she knows how to determine where the demand is and provide the supply. 😉

Seriously though, I think there is a sort of severing between the real world and the virtual, and very little crosses over it. The virtual world allows you to reinvent yourself as anything you want to be. I myself did not become “artist” until I brought my stuff into the virtual world, (before that I was merely ‘hobbyist’).

You make a good point though about folks who would transition their real life over to their virtual life – their past would definitely have to count, especially if it involves large sums of Lindens. That’s my 2 cents.
