Early October 2007 was a busy month. We interviewed Australian Second Life resident Wolfie Rankin on furries – it remains one of our most viewed stories.
The Melbourne Laneways build launched on ABC Island in Second Life.
Finally, potential Aussie virtual world Project Outback folded before it got close to public viewing.
We toured Toxic Garden and discussed the potential of Metaplace.
A year ago we covered the AIIA inworld-forum titled “Are Virtual Worlds relevant to my Marketing Effort?”
The same week, ABC Island ran a CSIRO forum on human life extension.
August 2007 saw some new Australian areas in Second Life:
1. We profiled the Great Barrier Reef and Whitsundays in Second Life.
2. We also had a look at Lake View Waters Fishing World.
We highlighted some poor mainstream reporting on Second Life and covered a successful event on ABC Island.
We were gobsmacked by the Greenies build in Second Life.
We were touched by The Garden for the Missing and the ABC’s 75th anniversary was celebrated in-world.
1. We reported on an influx of new Australian Second Life residents after a story on Second Life on 60 Minutes.
2. The Women’s Weekly got excited about Second Life.
1. We profiled the Second Life Cable Network team, who are based in Australia.
2. We interviewed the creator of a very short-live ANZAC build in Second Life.
We argued for a Melbourne-themed sim in Second Life and covered Anshe Chung’s relationship to the controversial World Stock Exchange.
